Heinz Kriwet

Heinz Kriwet (born November 2, 1931 in Bochum ; † March 9, 2017 in Düsseldorf ) was a German manager in the steel industry.

Life

Heinz Kriwet did a commercial apprenticeship in 1952 after graduating from high school and studied economics in Cologne and Freiburg from 1954 to 1957 . After graduating with a degree in economics, he became a research assistant at the University of Freiburg and received his doctorate. In 1960 he began his professional career, initially at the Iron and Steel Industry Association, in order to start working for the Krupp Group in 1962, and in 1969 he became a member of the Fried. Krupp Hüttenwerke AG .

In 1973 he became a member of the Executive Board at Thyssen and in 1983 became Chairman of the Executive Board of the Stahl subgroup, then from 1991 to 1996 Chairman of the Executive Board and, after leaving the Executive Board, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Thyssen AG in 1996 .

Kriwet supported the merger of Thyssen AG with Krupp. His idea was to provide the new Thyssen-Krupp AG with dual leadership. From April 1999 to March 2001 Kriwet was chairman of the supervisory board of Thyssen Krupp AG .

Heinz Kriwet was married to Marianne geb. Meyer zu Schlochtern (1936–2018). The marriage had five children, including Carla Kriwet . Since his student days Kriwet was a member of the Catholic student association Rheno-Palatia Freiburg in the KV .

He was involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land and was a member of the German Association of the Holy Land . In 1989 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Giuseppe Caprio and invested in the order on October 28, 1989 in Trier Cathedral by Franz Cardinal Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy .
