Heinz Löffler (painter)
Heinz Löffler (born September 27, 1913 in Dresden , † September 22, 2008 in Meißen ) was a German painter and graphic artist .
Life
The trained porcelain painter in the state porcelain factory in Meissen was the only student to learn from the figure painter Paul Voigt . Wounded in his right arm in the war, he had to paint, draw and write left-handed. In 1941 and 1942, Heinz Löffler was a left-wing writing student and teacher in Koblenz . His subsequent short-term studies at the Dresden Art Academy ended with the air raids on Dresden in 1945. His love for the art of the old masters remained constant. From 1946 to 1953 Heinz Löffler was a lecturer and specialist teacher at the state-owned porcelain factory in Meissen.
This was followed by ten years of stage design for the Meißner Stadttheater, which he was artistic director from 1963 to 1972. He produced numerous illustrations for publishers and magazines, including the one for Erich Loest's novel Love Stories .
Heinz Löffler, who initially felt closely connected to Ludwig Richter's painting style , later broke away from it and found his own painting style. His predominantly figurative-objective pictures, mostly made with oil and glaze technique , show landscapes and people in their living and working environment.
In 1977 he received the City of Meissen Art Prize .
On September 22, 2008, Heinz Löffler died a few days before the opening of the anniversary exhibition on his 95th birthday.
