Heinz Salfner

Heinz Salfner , also Heinrich Salfner , (born December 31, 1877 in Munich , † October 13, 1945 in Berlin ) was a German actor .

Life

He studied literature and art history, but then decided to become an actor. In 1899 he made his debut at the Liegnitz theater . In 1900 he came to Zwickau , in 1901 he played the title character of Ibsen's Peer Gynt at the Munich Court Theater .

From 1908 Salfner worked at the Leipzig City Theater , where he also directed from 1908. From 1910 on he was on the Berlin stages, especially at the Neue Schauspielhaus . He embodied the Gynt, the Liliom and over 300 times the Professor Higgins in Shaw's Pygmalion . 280 times he played the title character of Professor Bernhardi by Arthur Schnitzler .

From 1913 onwards he received leading roles in the film, such as the title role of Colonel Chabert in the film adaptation of Balzac 's novel of the same name right from the start . He later became a busy supporting actor who was often seen in father and husband roles.
