Career

Stamer played in his youth from 1952 to 1960 for his home team BSG Traktor Mirow. He then went to ASG Vorwärts Neubrandenburg as part of his military service , with whom he played in the second-rate GDR league. In 1964 he moved within the league to SC Cottbus . In his first season in 1964/65 , Stamer scored six goals in 17 games. In 1965/66 he met seven times in 23 games this season and stayed with Cottbus during the transition to BSG Energie. In the following season 1966/67 Stamer was able to improve again significantly and draw attention to himself. In 28 games he scored 21 goals. In his last season at Cottbus, however, he was only used in eight games (2 goals) and in 1968 moved to the first division club 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. There he made his debut in the 1968/69 season on November 9, 1968, when he was in the starting line-up on matchday 13 in a 2-0 win over 1. FC Union Berlin . Stamer had his second and last appearance on March 1, 1969 after a substitution in the game against Hansa Rostock , which ended in a 5-0 defeat. At the end of the season the relegation to the GDR league was certain. In addition, Stamer played internationally in the Messestädte-Pokal 1968/69 . Because Leipzig's opponent Kjøbenhavns Boldklub withdrew their participation, they went straight to the second round, where Hibernian Edinburgh was the opponent. Stamer was in the starting line-up in both the first and second leg. Leipzig lost both games and was eliminated from the competition. In the following season, Stamer was only a supplementary player in the GDR league and was only used twice in 1969/70 and scored one goal. 1970/71 he was no longer used in the league.
