Heinz Trebstein

Heinz Trebstein (* April 1921 ; † May 2011 in Berlin ) was a German police officer and traffic scientist of the GDR . He was head of the traffic police in the Ministry of the Interior of the GDR and director of the Institute for Traffic Safety at the University of Transport "Friedrich List" in Dresden .

Life

Trebstein became a member of the German People's Police (DVP) and a member of the SED after World War II . From 1962 to 1967 he was first lieutenant colonel of the VP, deputy head of the main department of protection and traffic police and head of the traffic police department (VK) of the Ministry of the Interior of the GDR. Trebstein was promoted to colonel in the VP in 1964. He qualified as a graduate engineer-economist.

On May 1, 1972, the Minister for Higher and Technical Education of the GDR , Hans-Joachim Böhme , appointed him full professor for traffic safety at the Research Institute for Traffic Safety in Dresden and on May 16, 1972 appointed him director of the research institute. After the re-establishment of the research institute as an institute for traffic safety with extended tasks on April 2, 1986 Trebstein retired on September 1, 1986.

Heinz Trebstein last lived in Berlin and was a member of the Society for the Protection of Civil Rights and Human Dignity . He died at the age of 90.
