history

Two stone axes found within the village corridors indicate that the area was settled as early as the Neolithic. The place probably originated at the time of the Bavarian conquest in the first half of the 7th century and goes back to a nobleman named Helicho.

Between around 1080 and 1085, the noble Rudolf gave the Helichinpach estate to the St. Emmeram monastery in Regensburg on the condition that it was not given as a fief . From 1139 the Helchenbach aristocrats appear as witnesses to the seal: Around 1150 Otto von Helchenbach when buying a farm in Richenrut (Reichenroith) by Kloster Rohr from Count Konrad von Roning, 1181/1182 an Adelpert von Helchinpach, 1180 Adelprecht and Udalrich von Helchenbach and 1180 Gebhart from Helchenbach. Ebram, her villages Pattendorf , Helchenbach, Wolferthau and Hofendorf for 1100 guilders to the provost of Rohr monastery Ulrich Regelsdorfer.

Ecclesiastically, Helchenbach has always belonged to the Sandsbach parish, which has existed since the 9th century . After 1818, the Helchenbach municipality in the Abensberg district court emerged from the Helchenbach tax district . It included the districts of Berg, Aich, Grub, Helchenbach, Obermondsberg, Höfel, Thalhof , Weiherhof, Kleinthalhof and Schöfthal.

It was not until 1951 that Helchenbach got its own schoolhouse after decades of unsuccessful efforts, but as early as 1969 the place was incorporated into the Rohr school district. The municipality of Helchenbach, which has always belonged to the Kelheim district office and later the Kelheim district, was incorporated into the Rohr market in Lower Bavaria on January 1, 1978 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
