Sallingberg is a district of the Rohr market in Lower Bavaria in the Lower Bavarian district of Kelheim . Until 1972 it formed an independent municipality.

location

Sallingberg is located in the Hallertau about three kilometers northwest of Rohr am Sallingbach , a right tributary of the Abens , only a few hundred meters southeast of the A 93 .

history

Since Sallingberg was not an aristocratic seat and therefore no gentlemen appear as witnesses to the seal in documents, little is known about the early history of the place. Probably in 1209, Duke Ludwig the Kelheimer donated a chapel in Sallingberg to the Rohr monastery. In 1231 Duke Otto II confirmed this donation. Already in 1239 there is a signature of a Cunrad, pastor of Sälingberg . In 1248 the donation of the chapel in Selenberc is confirmed by Regensburg Bishop Albert . 1273, Pope Innocent IV. The monastery pipe possession of the church. In 1559 the diocesan visitation was carried out in Sallingberg. In 1632 and 1634 the Swedes invaded and destroyed many farms. From 1737 the parish church was expanded, probably by the son of the Rohrer master builder Joseph Bader, Martin Bader.

During the Napoleonic Wars , Sallingberg was a passage area for many foreign soldiers from 1791 to 1799. The people of that time remembered the “Russian hordes” particularly intensely, who spread horror with their wild and barbaric demeanor. After secularization in Bavaria - Sallingberg had 173 inhabitants at the time - the parish was to be incorporated into Offenstetten and partly into Kirchdorf . The Hofmarkherrschaft Offenstetten refused. In 1828 the parish became an expositur , and in 1894 the parsonage was built. Today Sallingberg is also pastorally administered by Offenstetten.

Even before secularization, Sallingberg had a school that was supervised by the Rohr monastery. The sacristan made the school or classroom available. It was not until 1900 that there was a new community schoolhouse in Sallingberg. From 1965 the school children went to Offenstetten. In the same year, the community began to seek its own coat of arms. The historical connection with the monasteries Weltenburg and Rohr was decisive for the design. Two cattails protrude from a hill . This establishes the relationship to Rohr. The Weltenburg cross hovers between the pistons.

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , on January 1, 1972, it was first incorporated into Offenstetten and finally incorporated into the market town of Rohr on May 1, 1978. All children have been attending the Rohr elementary school since 1994.
