Helen Kohl (* 1963 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German nursing scientist .

Life

Career

She completed nursing training at the Elisabeth Hospital in Mönchengladbach and a teaching degree at the University of Osnabrück in the subject combination of health and English. She did a semester abroad in the USA and internships in England and Ireland . Professionally, she worked in outpatient care, handicapped care and intensive specialist care. As a lecturer , she taught nursing science at universities ( HU Berlin , Witten / Herdecke , Osnabrück ) and technical colleges ( Hamburg , Hanover ). She studied social sciences at the University of Hanover and was a lecturer at a vocational school in Hanover. She had research stays in the USA ( University of Minnesota ; Creighton University ). She did her doctorate at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Hanover . She gave guest lectures at universities in Mexico City . She teaches as visiting professor for feminist ethics at the Universiteit voor Humanistiek at the chair for care ethics and as adjunct professor at the University of Alberta . She represents the Chair of Care Policy and Ethics in Nursing in connection with international theories and concepts with special consideration of a politically oriented Ethics of Care at the PTH Vallendar .

Honorary positions

Coal is a member of the board of trustees of the German Foundation for Patient Protection , a nationwide patient protection organization for seriously ill, highly care-dependent and dying people based in Dortmund.

In November 2017 Helen Kohlen was appointed to the scientific advisory board of the German Hospice and Palliative Association. V. (DHPV) , the umbrella organization of over 1,000 hospice associations and palliative facilities in Germany.
