Helene Tschitschko

Helene Tschitschko (born January 10, 1908 in Timenitz , Carinthia , † August 1, 1992 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee ) was an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) and several times President of the Austrian Federal Council .

Life

After attending elementary school and further training at the adult education center , Helene Tschitschko first worked as a worker in a factory and later as a housewife. She later began a political career in the SPÖ and was chairwoman of the Socialist Women of Carinthia . In 1953 she was elected a member of the Klagenfurt am Wörthersee municipal council and in 1960 she also became a member of the board of the Klagenfurt consumer cooperative .

After the state elections in Carinthia in 1965, Helene Tschitschko was elected to one of the representatives of Carinthia in the Austrian Federal Council at the constituent session of the Carinthian state parliament on April 12, 1965 and belonged to it as a representative of the SPÖ during the X. , XI. , XII. and XIII. Legislative period until November 4, 1975.

During this time she was President of the Federal Council three times, from January 1 to June 30, 1965, from July 1 to December 31, 1969 and from January 1 to June 30, 1974.
