Theodor Eggendorfer

Theodor Eggendorfer (born October 11, 1901 in Schönberg am Kamp , Lower Austria ; † March 24, 1980 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

Theodor Eggendorfer came from a family of winemakers . Therefore, he visited after the elementary school in the from 1920 to 1921 viticultural school in Krems . Then he worked as a wine maker .

He held Eggendorfer's first political mandate from 1935, when he was elected mayor of his home town of Schönberg am Kamp. After the annexation of Austria , he had to resign in 1938. But already in 1945 Eggendorfer was able to move into the mayor's office again; he then remained mayor until 1960.

In December 1945 Eggendorfer was sworn in as a member of the Federal Council in Vienna . In the 20 years in which he was active as Federal Councilor until December 1965, he held the office of Federal Council President three times, in 1956, 1961 and most recently in 1965 . Within his party, the ÖVP, he rose to become district chairman of the Krems-Land district .

But Eggendorfer also made an outstanding contribution to his profession. So he was elected President of the Federal Association of Viticulture in Austria.
