Helene Voss
Helene Voss , also Lene Voss or Lene Voss (* 1876 in Germany; † November 1926 there ) was a German actress with stage and silent film .
Live and act
Nothing is currently known about her early years (origin, education). Her first demonstrable permanent engagement took place in 1901 with the touring ensemble of the Berlin Apollo Theater . This was followed by engagements at other theaters in the capital, such as the Central Theater and the Walhalla Theater , where she had well-known colleagues such as Emil Albes and Heinz Schall as partners.
In 1911, the film companies Deutsche Bioscop GmbH and Meesters Projektion GmbH signed Helene Voss and gave her leading roles in their productions. In those early years she was mainly called Lene Voss or Lene Voss. These were mostly short comedies and dramas. In films by Danish stars like Asta Nielsen (“ The poor Jenny ”) or Viggo Larsen (“ The Oath of Stephan Huller ”) she had to be content with supporting roles. In the course of the years her roles became smaller and smaller, leading roles like in short films made around 1919 or in inexpensive side productions like “ In den Krallen der Geier ” were rather the exception. Her films, artistic continuously unambitious and limited to pure entertainment, gave her the opportunity at the side once so popular mimes like Ernst Lubitsch , Max Landa , Werner Krauss , Bernd Aldor , Reinhold Schünzel , Carl Auen and brothers and sisters Ilse and Curt Bois act .
Helene Voss embodied mostly down-to-earth, simple people, often hands-on, firm and a little coarse: landlords, card readers, housekeepers as well as mothers-in-law, aunts and loads of wives.
