Emil Albes

Friedrich Emil Albes (born October 30, 1861 in Pyrmont , Principality of Waldeck-Pyrmont , † April 22, 1923 in Berlin ) was a German actor , theater director and film director .

Life

The son of the opera singer August Ludwig Albes (1822–1900) began his acting career at the age of twenty in Elbing . His theater stations were Freiberg , Reichenbach , Köslin , Wesel , Zittau , Hanau , Göttingen and Stettin .

In 1891 he made his directorial debut in Göttingen. About Hamburg he arrived in 1898 as director of the Berlin Central Theater . From 1911 he worked as an actor and director for the then novel cinematography . He embodied partly comical, partly worthy older men and staged both comedic and dramatic material.
