Helga Schmitt Bussinger (* 23. November 1957 in Oberdachstetten , Ansbach ) is a German politician of the SPD . From 1998 to 2018 she was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament .

Life

After primary school in Oberdachstetten from 1964 to 1968, she attended the Theresien-Gymnasium in Ansbach from 1968 to 1977 . Schmitt-Bussinger then studied at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg from 1978 to 1982 teaching post for secondary schools and from 1982 to 1998 was a secondary school teacher in Rednitzhembach .

Schmitt-Bussinger is a Protestant, married and has one son.

Political career

In 1979 Helga Schmitt-Bussinger joined the SPD Bavaria and was elected to the Schwabach city ​​council in 1984, to which she belonged until 2019. Schmitt-Bussinger was chairwoman of the SPD sub-district of Schwabach from 1999 to 2015.

She was elected to the Bavarian State Parliament in the state elections in 1998 via the district list of Middle Franconia and confirmed in the 2003 , 2008 and 2013 elections. In 2013, she took second place in her 503 Nürnberg-Süd direct voting group with 18,980 first votes (32.0%), while Schmitt-Bussinger achieved 79,457 votes nationwide. Only the top candidate Christian Ude was able to achieve a better result (416,304).

From 2008 to 2013, Schmitt-Bussinger was chairman of the working group 'Local Issues and Internal Security' of the SPD parliamentary group and member of the parliamentary committee of the same name. For her services to internal security, she was awarded the Constitutional Medal of the Free State of Bavaria in silver in 2010, and in gold in 2016. In October 2014 she was elected deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. Schmitt-Bussinger was also a member of the council of elders and the committee for science and art. She was also the spokeswoman for the Central Franconian SPD MPs in the Bavarian state parliament.

In the state elections in Bavaria in 2018 , she no longer stood and therefore left the state parliament afterwards.
