There was a disappointment that, according to the FIM statutes, she was not granted a license to take part in the GDR championship or international motorcycle races, although Heinrich-Steudel fulfilled the requirements every year from 1963. She ended her motorcycling career in late 1967.

Heinrich-Steudel thus rose to LK I of the B8 racing car in a field with Ulli Melkus , Bernd Kasper , Frieder Kramer , Heiner Lindner and others.

At the end of 1983, Helga Heinrich-Steudel finally said goodbye to racing - primarily because of uncompetitive material. Almost a decade later, she got into a racing car again in 1992.
