Starting line

The racetrack with 35 curves and a length of 5500 m runs on a winding section of the provincial road 1027 from the Bad Liebensteiner district Steinbach (start: 380  m above sea level ) to approx. 215 m before the junction of the L 2119 into the L 1027 which at the same time joins the L 1027 in the Rennsteig , (target: 630  m above sea level ) up the southwest slope of the Thuringian Forest and overcomes a difference in altitude of 250 m. The route follows the natural formation of the valley of the Grumbach on its north-western slope and then the Kallenbachtal on its western slope upstream, which at the same time leads up the south-western slope of the Thuringian Forest towards the Rennsteig; In the upper part of the Kallenbachtal, it crosses the Kallenbach and leaves the north-eastern slope of the valley in an easterly direction, first on the southern, then on the eastern slope of the Glasbachskopf - a mountain nose of the Thuringian Forest near the Glasbach desert  - along and then northwards over the ridge of the mountain nose back to the Kallenbachtal. Within the closed town (in terms of the StVO ) of Steinbach, the route is also a section of Glasbachstraße.

The turning point for the racing vehicles behind the installation for the return is at the confluence of the L 1127 and L 1027; the repatriation is set up on the section of the L 1027 located on the Rennsteig. The paddock is either in the center of Steinbach or on the sports field on the outskirts of Bad Liebenstein.
