Helge Reiss (born February 27, 1928 in Oslo ; † November 11, 2009 there ) was a Norwegian actor .

Career

Reiss graduated from high school in 1949 and then began acting training at the Nationaltheatrets elevskole ( drama school of the National Theater ). From 1949 he went permanently to the Det Nye Teater , which in 1959 became the Oslo Nye Teater . Reiss became an indispensable part of this theater and worked there for 50 years until he retired in 1998. He showed a special talent at the theater in the implementation of humorous and poetic roles. Reiss also acted as a film actor in many Norwegian film and television productions .

Helge Reiss first became known throughout Norway in 1976 for his portrayal of Baron Løvenvold in the film Olsenbanden for full musikk from the Norwegian Olsenbanden film series. In 1979 he took on the leading role of Professor Drøvel in the television series Brødrene Dal . In the title character of Professor Drøvel , he was also seen there in every episode of all episodes for about 20 seconds in the opening sequence. He also appeared again in 2005 in the later continuation of Brødrene Dal as Professor Drøvel in Brødrene Dal og Mysteriet om Karl XIIs gamasjer .

Reiss had various guest roles in several episodes of the two Norwegian television series Mot i brøstet and Karl & Co. Furthermore, he played the role of the Bohemian poet Gregor Bang in the television series Hotel Caesar on the Norwegian television channel TV 2 in 2009 . In 2009 he played the main role of the character Carl Fredricksen in the Norwegian dubbed version of the computer-animated film Above .

Helge Reiss was the son of the Norwegian actor Thorleif Reiss (1898–1988) and his wife, the actress Esther Colbjørnsen Dahl (1896–1941). Since 1951 he was married to the rector Marit Billington (1928-2004) and is the father of the jazz musician George Michael Reiss (* 1956) and the theater actress, dramaturge and director Esther Reiss (* 1954).
