Heliconia irrasa is a species ofthe Heliconia family (Heliconiaceae). It is native to Central America.
description
Heliconia irrasa is an evergreen, perennial, herbaceous plant , vegetatively similar to a banana plant and with a height of 1.5 to 2 meters. The longest leaves are up to 100 centimeters long and 27 centimeters wide.
The up to 29 centimeters long inflorescences hang down, each inflorescence has six to nine spiral-shaped, wavy bracts . Each coil consists of 10 to 15 flowers , the flower envelope is white to pale yellow at the base, then yellow. The sepals are glabrous to slightly downy hairy on the edges.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.
distribution
Heliconia irrasa is native to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.

The species was first described in 1975 by Robert Roy Smith .
