Jensen played during her career for the Danish clubs B 1909 and Fortuna Hjørring in the 3F Ligaen . In 1992 and 1993 she won the Danish championship with B in 1909 and in 1994 with Fortuna Hjørring.

National teams

On May 20, 1987, when she lost 2-0 to Sweden , she made her first international match at the age of 18. She was immediately a regular player and was also used in the next nine games. She scored her first international goal in her third game in the European Championship qualifier against Norway , which the Danes won 1-0. After her 10th game, the quarter-final second leg in the European Championship qualification against Sweden, there was an international break of 10 months, in which she was not used in three friendly matches. Then followed again 18 games in a row, before she paused again in June 1991 in two friendly games against England . In the subsequent European Championship finals , however, she was used in the semi-finals (7: 8 on penalties against Norway) and the game for third place against Italy . Against Italy she was the only goalscorer for the Danes in the finals, who then finished third with an own goal by an Italian in extra time. By reaching the quarter-finals, the Danish women also qualified for the first women's World Cup. At the World Cup, she scored the first two World Cup goals for Denmark in the first group game against New Zealand , against which the Danes played there for the first time and thus played a major role in the 3-0 victory. After a 2-2 win against hosts China , they reached the quarter-finals as the best third party despite a 2-1 defeat against Norway. But here they lost 2-1 after extra time against European champions Germany . They were able to take revenge two years later at the European Championship finals in the game for third place, which they won 3-1. It was only the Germans' first defeat at a European Championship finals and after that they didn't lose a European Championship game for 20 years. On June 15, 1994 she scored four goals in an 11-0 qualification against Lithuania in the European Championship . With her first goal, her 23rd international goal, she surpassed the goal record of Lone Smidt Nielsen . She expanded the goal record to 38 goals and was only outbid by Gitte Krogh on November 21, 2000 .

In October 1994 she and her team failed in the quarter-finals of the European Championships against Sweden, but as the best quarter-final losers they were qualified for the World Cup in Sweden . Before the World Cup, they reached the final of the Algarve Cup , where they scored two goals, but the Danes lost 3-2 to Sweden after extra time. At the World Cup she was used in the three group games and scored her third World Cup goal in the first group game in a 5-0 win against Australia . Gitte Krogh contributed two more goals . Although the following two group games were lost, the Danish women reached the quarter-finals as the best third party. But here they lost 3-1 against eventual world champions Norway. In this game, Jensen beat Lotte Bagge's international record with her 64th international match , who had ended her career eight months earlier at the age of 26. Jensen then extended this record to 77 games, but lost that record to Gitte Krogh before the scoring record on August 27, 2000.

By moving into the top eight teams in the World Cup, the Danes were qualified for the first women's Olympic football tournament at the Olympic Games in Atlanta . There they were eliminated after three defeats in the group stage and have never been able to qualify for the Olympic Games since then. Jensen scored the only goals for the Danes at the Olympic Games in the group games against China (1: 5) and Sweden (1: 3). At the age of only 27, however, she ended her career after the Olympic Games. With her three goals at the World Championships in 1991 and 1995, she is still together with Gitte Krogh the record goal scorer of the Danish women.
