The slipway is about ten kilometers long, right tributary of the Rodach tributary Kreck in Thuringia and Bavaria. It flows through the southwestern part of the Heldburger Land and flows into the Kreck in Bavaria.

The source of the slipway is to the west of Albingshausen, close to the Bavarian border. The slipway flows in a south-easterly direction and reaches Bavarian territory at Poppenhausen . It flows through the Althellinger Grund nature reserve and forms the state border between Bavaria and Thuringia over a length of around 1500 meters. North of Autenhausen , the slipway flows into the Kreck on Bavarian territory.
