Hellmuth Dost (born November 29, 1914 in Dresden , † January 21, 1971 in Bergen on Rügen ) was a German conservationist and author of ornithological publications.

Life

Hellmuth Dost, a trained precision mechanic, worked from 1935 at the Museum für Tierkunde Dresden and at bird ringing . In 1949 he was appointed district commissioner for nature conservation in the Rügen district. In addition to his area of ​​responsibility, nature and landscape protection , Dost also dealt with national culture and monument preservation and above all with ornithological local research. He tried to promote the sea bird sanctuaries on the Baltic coast.
