content

In the year 2127 the engineer Paul Merchant lives on the space station Minos and prepares a trap for the pinhead and his cenobites to get revenge on them, because all his ancestors were killed by the cenobites. It is his goal to destroy them with the help of the space station that is his construction. A special task force launched from Earth intervenes with the aim of regaining control of the station. Merchant is arrested by the commando shortly after calling the pinhead. Since he sees no alternative, Merchant tells the officer Rimmer the story of his ancestors and their fight against the Cenobites. As expected, Rimmer doesn't believe a word, but that changes when she hears the first screams of pain from the members of her command.

criticism

“A genre mix of horror and science fiction films, as the third sequel to a successful horror story. Numerous flashbacks inhibit the narrative flow, but the "special effect" experts try to make up for this shortcoming. "

Trivia

  • Bloodline was supposed to be the last part of the Hellraiser series, but Dimension Films was against it.
  • The original version was re-edited so many times that director Kevin Yagher left the production without finishing all scenes after knowing that the studio had been cutting behind his back. Joe Chappelle , who completed the film, stepped in as a replacement . In the final version, the pseudonym Alan Smithee is named as the director.
  • Bloodline was the last Hellraiser part to start in theaters. All other sequels to the series were released directly on DVD.
  • The film was budgeted around $ 4 million and grossed $ 16,675,000.
  • The original cut was chronological and played mostly in France. In addition, there was little splatter and pinhead should only appear after about a third. The end looked like that the last descendant of the toymaker will oppose the cenobites in the future, die with them on the space station in a final showdown and thus end the bloodline.
  • The indexing of the film in Germany was lifted in December 2016.
