Helmut Donat (psychologist)

Helmut Donat (born October 21, 1909 in Schmölln ; † December 7, 1998 in Bremen ) was a German educator , psychologist and university lecturer.

Life

Donat studied German , philosophy and psychology at the universities of Leipzig , Vienna , the Humboldt University of Berlin and Jena . During his studies in 1929 he became a member of the Ghibellinia Leipzig fraternity . He received his doctorate in 1935 as Dr. phil. From 1935 to 1936 he was an elementary school teacher , then headed a higher private school from 1936 to 1937 and worked from 1938 to 1945 as a tutor for teacher training.

In 1945 Donat led training courses for elementary school teachers at the educational seminar in Bremen. In 1947 he was appointed to the newly founded University of Education in Bremen as a lecturer and in 1949 he was appointed professor. He taught psychology. After taking over the teacher training college, he was at the University of Bremen from 1971 to 1978 . He was co-editor of the magazine Welt der Schule .
