Helmut Leiendecker

Helmut "Helm" Leiendecker (born November 10, 1952 in Trier ) is a German musician , actor and Trier original .

Life

Leiendecker is a trained wholesale and foreign trade merchant . Even as a teenager he was enthusiastic about music and poetry.

In 1986 he founded the dialect band Leiendecker Bloas , which became known nationwide primarily for its carnival songs. Leiendecker writes the lyrics for the band, sings and plays the harmonica . He writes the plays for the Kleine Volkstheater Trier , directs and participates in the performances. Leiendecker was also seen in performances at the Trier City Theater , including as the prison guard Frosch in Die Fledermaus . In a documentary by Gernot and Carsten Jäger on the 125th anniversary of Karl Marx's death , Leiendecker played the philosopher , who also came from Trier . He appears in commercials for green electricity for Stadtwerke Trier . What is special about Helmut Leiendecker is his efforts to preserve the Trier plateau , in which he writes his poems, lyrics and plays. In addition, he published a dictionary of the Trier plateau and created the "Trierian language course" for new students with the Trier student union. For his services to the city's cultural life, he was awarded the Trier City Cup of Honor in 2001; his band received the Schwab Prize in 1993 for their services to the Trier dialect. Because of his humor and his social commitment, Helmut Leiendecker was awarded the Franz Weißebach Prize in 2006 .

He is the older brother of the former professional soccer player Lothar Leiendecker .
