Helmut M. Zoidl

Helmut M. Zoidl (born January 9, 1934 in Linz Kleinmünchen ; † September 14, 2013 in Judenburg ) was an Austrian entrepreneur and art collector.

Education and professional career

He was born on January 9, 1934 in Linz / Kleinmünchen and attended elementary school there. After completing secondary school and the commercial academy, Zoidl studied from 1954 to 1958 at the University of World Trade in Vienna. After graduating, he joined the Austrian nitrogen works in Linz as a business economist , where he stayed for two years. He then moved to the Nettingsdorfer paper factory as a business economist and became its commercial director. From 1973 he was a board member of Ankerbrot Vienna for two years . From 1975 to 1977 he worked as managing director of the Neusiedler paper factory Hausmening, then until 1979 sole managing director of Gewerbemanagement GmbH, a subsidiary of Volksbanken AG.

In 1980 he joined Eumig GmbH Wiener Neudorf as a member of the management and from 1981 was the sole managing director of Eumig Fohnsdorf Industrie GmbH. 1985 the loss zone could be left. In the same year he commissioned Wolfgang Herzig to design three woodcuts on the subject of Fohnsdorf, which he passed on to his customers as promotional gifts. In the following three years each Herzig cycle was created.

In 1991, Eumig Fohnsdorf was merged with AT&S in Hinterberg and Steirische Elektronik in Fehring , chaired by Helmut Zoidl. In 1994 the Androsch -Dörflinger-Zoidl group acquired AT & S from ÖIAG, which had been restructured in the meantime . In 1995 the GmbH was converted into an AG.

In 1995, Zoidl sponsored an art book about Wolfgang Herzig, followed by a book about Karl Korab in 1996 , Franz Ringel in 1997 and Eduard Angeli in 1998 . In 1999, Helmut M. Zoidl gradually retired. The proceeds from the sale of his shares in AT&S were transferred to an HMZ foundation that has now been established.

In 2000 the HMZ private foundation bought Schloss Gabelhofen , Fohnsdorf. A seminar wing and an art gallery were added in 2002. In 2009, work began on a book with Dietmar Tadler that catalogs and describes the Helmut Zoidl collection. This was presented on March 5, 2010 in Schloss Gabelhofen at the same time as a vernissage of pictures by the painter Eduard Angeli.
