On 19 December 1987 he won the giant slalom from Kranjska Gora , which his only World Cup victory remained.
At the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 he achieved second place in the Super-G and thus silver, a year later at the World Championships in Vail in 1989 he achieved silver in the giant slalom, with the fastest time in the second run after finishing 10th in the first run . Between 1986 and 1993 he was Austrian champion four times : three times (1986, 1991, 1993) in giant slalom and once (1989) in Super-G.
Since the summer of 2018, he has held the post of head coach at the State Ski Association of Carinthia, but he resigned this on May 12, 2019 because he did not agree to coaching.
Awards
The Carinthian Sports Press Club chose him three times in a row (1987-1989) as Carinthian Sportsman of the Year .
