Helmut Millauer

Helmut Millauer (born January 11, 1941 in Stuttgart ; † May 24, 2014 ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran regional bishop , senior church councilor and song poet .

Life

After completing his studies, Millauer was initially vicar in Ingolstadt and began his ministry as a pastor in February 1976 in the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Ebersberg - Grafing , where he worked until March 1983. From 1984 to 1997 was rector of Millauer Rummelsberger Diakonie and was in 1997 for the Regional Bishops in the Church District of Regensburg and a member of the National Church Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria appointed. In 2004 he retired.

The Rummelsberg Breviary published by him , which appears daily under the title You are close to me , shapes the Rummelsberg Diakonie in its spiritual life to this day. A spiritual song written by Millauer in 1990 with the title Thank the Creator of our World was included under number 635 in the Bavaria / Thuringia regional section of the Evangelical Hymnal (EG). The refrain is called Serve the Lord with joy and expresses the diaconal profession of the author.
