Helmut Palitsch (born October 2, 1951 in Vienna , † August 16, 2007 in Hamburg ) was an Austrian director .

Career

Palitsch studied history, German and theater studies in Vienna. In 1974 he worked for Claus Peymann as assistant director at the State Theater in Stuttgart , where he directed the world premiere of Ödön von Horváth's Der Fall E.

From 1979 to 1983 Palitsch was artistic and commercial director of the Theater am Neumarkt in Zurich . As overall director and director, he also oversaw large, national, free projects, such as the Landeskulturtage NRW 1989 or the international Theatrale 94, and worked for Austrian television.

Palitsch also worked as an actor . So he played z. B. Over twelve years in over 250 performances as Der Herr Karl by Helmut Qualtinger . From 1996 to 2002 he directed the drama at the theater of the state capital Magdeburg .

Since August 2002 he has been working as a freelancer, among others in Dessau , Dortmund , Kassel , Magdeburg and Münster . In the 2006/2007 season he took over the artistic direction of the Tribüne Theater in Berlin from Rainer Behrend , which he resigned after six months.
