Helmut Schweizer
Helmut Schweizer (* 1946 in Stuttgart ) is a German artist.
life and work
Helmut Schweizer studied painting from 1967 to 1973 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe under Peter Herkenrath , Raimer Jochims , Horst Antes and Fritz Klemm ; in addition, art history and philosophy at the University of Karlsruhe . As a concept and action artist, Helmut Schweizer has been gaining continuous recognition for his installation works since the 1970s. In 1975 he was awarded a scholarship at the Deutsche Akademie Villa Massimo . He took part in documenta IX curated by Jan Hoet , is represented in international collections and has taken part in many exhibitions in museums. His works were last seen in Düsseldorf in 2008 at the Museum Kunstpalast . In 2010 the Städtische Galerie Wolfsburg showed an extensive retrospective. Helmut Schweizer was second chairman of the board of the German Association of Artists from 2004 to 2012 .
