Helmut Stahl (born July 22, 1947 in Olpe ) is a German politician ( CDU ). From 2000 to 2010 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

education and profession

Helmut Stahl graduated from high school in 1967. After basic military service and an industrial internship, he studied economics and social sciences at the University of Cologne from 1969 to 1975 . From 1975 to 1981 the graduate economist held various functions in the CDU federal office in the Konrad-Adenauer-Haus ; most recently Stahl was Head of the Social Policy Department. From 1981 to 1983 he was a research assistant in the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in Bonn. From 1983 to 1993 he was employed in the Federal Ministry for Labor and Social Affairs , most recently since 1988 as head of the policy and planning department. From 1993 to 1996 he moved to the Federal Chancellery as Head of the Social, Environment, Transport and Research Department . From 1996 until the change of the federal government in 1998, Stahl was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Technology .

Political party

Helmut Stahl has been a member of the CDU since 1965. From 1999 to 2003 he was deputy chairman of the CDU district association in Bonn. In 1999 he ran for the office of Lord Mayor of Bonn and lost in the runoff election against Bärbel Dieckmann ( SPD ).

Political offices

From 2000 to 2010 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . From October 2002 to June 2005 he was parliamentary manager of the CDU state parliamentary group , from June 2005 parliamentary group chairman of the CDU state parliament group.

Helmut Stahl left the state parliament at his own request in June 2010.
