The Foundation for Environment and Development North Rhine-Westphalia is a foundation that supports the implementation of Agenda 21 in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Goals and Organization

The foundation is committed to north-south dialogue , environmental and nature conservation, intercultural learning and fair trade . It is managed by a voluntary board of directors and a full-time office. The foundation was initiated in 2001 by the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia and is based in Bonn . The Chairman of the Board of Trustees is the Prime Minister of the State Armin Laschet . The chairman of the board is the former president of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia , Alfred Buss .

The foundation supports non-profit organizations with project advice and financing. It promotes projects of environmental education, environmental protection and resource conservation, development education and information, intercultural and global learning and fair trade. Preferably, projects are funded in which environmental and development issues are linked, in which people volunteer and with which something is created that continues to have an effect after the funding has ended.

financing

The foundation receives its funds from tax revenue from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and from lottery proceeds, which are made available to it annually on the basis of budget decisions by the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the first eleven years of its existence, the foundation has supported over 900 projects with a total of around 41 million euros.
