Helmut Vietze

Helmut Vietze (born February 15, 1925 in Oppach ; † 2002 ) was a German jazz and entertainment musician ( clarinet , saxophone , flute ).

Vietze received private clarinet lessons and studied between 1947 and 1952 at the Dresden University of Music . From 1948 to 1951 he was a member of the Friedrich Krenz Orchestra; In 1951, as a baritone saxophonist , he became a member of the Dresden Dance Symphony Orchestra , with whom he made several recordings. From 1979 he was musical director of the Big Band of the TU Dresden for many years . As a guest he played with Klaus Lenz , Theo Schumann and Fips Fleischer . He also worked as a studio musician for radio, film and television.

Vietze died in 2002. He was buried in Dresden at the Loschwitz cemetery .
