Helmuth Karl Misak (born August 7, 1932 , † December 7, 2008 in Vienna ) was an Austrian cook who was best known for a cooking show on Austrian television.

biography

Helmuth Misak worked as a cook in the Austrian embassy in London , where he once cooked for Queen Elizabeth II at a reception , and then came to the British embassy in Vienna. Here he met Franz Ruhm , who had worked as a television chef since 1956 and was looking for a successor. Misak was one of the first Austrian TV chefs to work in 134 cookery programs for ORF between October 17, 1961 and 1977 . From 1977 to 1985 he cooked alternately with Franz Zodl and Josef Zauner for the program Häferlgucker on ORF . The Iglo company used its popularity for commercials for spinach and red cabbage ; he was also involved in product development. Together with the Austrian team (Pokorny, Ernst Faseth , Nizinsky , Hans Hofer ) he won the Gold Grand Prize and the IKA Prize of Honor at the 11th International Culinary Art Exhibition in Frankfurt in 1964 . In 1977 Helmuth Misak was awarded the Golden Decoration of Honor of the State of Vienna.

In the TV series Kottan determined on October 25, 1981, he played himself as a television chef.

Helmuth Misak died at the age of 76 of pneumonia as a result of a fractured femur. The burial took place on December 30, 2008 in an urn grave at the Jedleseer Friedhof in Floridsdorf . (Group 31, number 46)
