Hendrik Soll (* 1963 ) is a German jazz pianist .

Live and act

Soll received classical piano training from childhood and was active in bands in the Ruhr area music scene as a teenager. After completing his studies, he first appeared in the projects of Joachim Ullrich and Michael Sagmeister and accompanied Silvia Droste . He has been a member of the Engstfeld / Weiss Quartet since the mid-1990s . He is also part of André Nendza's quartet and plays with Henning Berg (first in a quartet, then in a duo). He is also a member of Matthias Bergmann's combo . He performed with Bob Brookmeyer 's 'New Art Orchestra' in New York's Village Vanguard . He has also given concerts with Benny Bailey , Jarek Smietana, Michiel Borstlap , Jarmo Hoogendijk and Hayden Chisholm as well as with the Till Brönner Band at various festivals. He has made several concert tours abroad (also through Japan, Australia, the USA, Brazil, China) and has worked on radio and theater productions.

As a session musician he has a. a. worked for Harald Juhnke , Ron Williams , Barbara Schöneberger , Babette van Veen , Amy Antin , Bürger Lars Dietrich or the No Angels and participated in over 40 CD and radio productions.

From 1989 to 2007, Hendrik Soll was a lecturer for piano and ensemble at the OJHS (Open Jazz House School) in Cologne. At the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, he held a teaching position from 2000 to 2005 and temporarily headed the jazz department for a year and a half.

As of 2007, Soll was a lecturer for jazz piano and ensemble at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. Since 2010 he has been professor for jazz piano there.
