Hendrina African

Hendrina Martha Afrikaner (* 1952 in South West Africa , today Namibia ; † August 19, 2011 at Keetmanshoop ) was a traditional leader in Namibia. As captain , Afrikaner presided over the Orlam Africans , a clan of the Nama . As the great-granddaughter of Jan Jonker Afrikaner , she was the only woman at the top in the history of the clan.

Hendrina Afrikaner grew up in Hoachanas and Okahandja , where she attended the Augustineum . She worked as a nurse before working in the Ministry of Education after Namibia's independence .

Afrikaner became a captain in 2004 and held this position until her fatal car accident in August 2011. She was buried next to Jonker Afrikaner in Okahandja.
