Hendschels Luginsland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hendschels Luginsland monographic series are travel guides that were published between 1910 and 1914 in Frankfurt am Main by M. Hendschel (Expedition von Hendschels Telegraph).

description

The original concept of the individual editions is based on the description of prominent sights along travel routes by rail , on trunk roads or major shipping lines . For later editions, their authors also used well-known hiking routes as a basis. The series was aimed at readers whose interest in traveling consisted of visiting works of art and architectural monuments and who were receptive to selected landscapes. In addition, the representations in this series corresponded to a trend in which people were open to relatively new techniques that they could experience themselves, such as photography and the developing passenger transport of the railroad. The series combined impressions from nature and local art into a recommended travel experience. This orientation also corresponded to other publishing products, such as the Hendschel's Telegraph . This was a railway course book for Germany , Austria and Switzerland , which was based on a traditional publishing activity that went back to 1848.

Most of the individual editions of the Hendschels Luginsland series are by different authors. Depending on the number of pages, the works were published as brochures or industrially manufactured book covers . The illustrative equipment of the volumes consists essentially of black and white images with views of cities, buildings and architectural details as well as considerable nature motifs. The individual editions contain colored overview maps of the regions described.
