Henk Bosch van Drakestein

Henk Bosch van Drakestein (born June 20, 1928 in The Hague ; † August 21, 1993 there ) was a Dutch jazz musician ( double bass , electric bass , occasionally cello and banjo).

Act

Bosch van Drakestein began his music career as an autodidact on guitar and bass. He originally played modern jazz in his own Esquire quintet and with The Millers. He then accompanied (as Hank Wood ) the singer and pianist Pia Beck and also Frans Elsen . From 1957 he belonged to the quartet of Peter Schilperoort and to the Dixieland Pipers of Eric Krans. Between 1960 and 1970 he was mainly active outside of music.

From 1970 Bosch van Drakestein was a long-time member of the Dutch Swing College Band . He also went on tour with Joe Venuti and Johnny Meijer . With Bob Kaper , Huub Janssen and Marcel Hendricks he formed the Flashback Quartet , with which he was also active from the mid-1970s. Due to illness he was represented in the Dutch Swing College Band by Adrie Braat from 1986 before he officially resigned in 1989. In the field of jazz he was involved in 120 recordings between 1952 and 1988. ..
