Henning Grove

Henning Kvist Gregersen Grove (born April 7, 1932 in Svoldrup ; † May 9, 2014 in Skals , Viborg Kommune ) was a Danish politician from Det Conservative Folkeparti , who was a member of the Folketing between 1977 and 2001 and who served as Minister of Fisheries from 1982 to 1986 by Prime Minister Poul Schlueter .

Life

Grove, son of a farmer, studied veterinary medicine at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University KVL (Kongelige Veterinær- og Landbohøjskole) between 1952 and 1958 after completing his schooling at the primary school in Havbro , the secondary school in Aars and the Rungsted grammar school . After completing his studies and obtaining his medical license, he began working as a veterinarian in Skals in 1960 .

In addition to his professional activity, he was involved in local politics and was between 1966 and 1970 member of the municipal council (Sogneråd) of Låstrup-Skals Sogn and then from 1970 to 1978 member of the council of Viborg Amt . During this time he was chairman of the hospital committee between 1974 and 1978 and also chairman of the Sparkasse von Skals from 1976 to 1982. He was also a member of the Veterinary Association in the Viborg Office, of which he was chairman between 1975 and 1977.

After he had run unsuccessfully for a mandate in the Folketing in the elections of December 4, 1973 for Det Conservative Folkeparti, he was elected to the Folketing in the elections of February 15, 1977 and represented Viborg until November 20, 2001 Office. In 1982 he was a member of the Folketing Finance Committee.

On September 10, 1982 Grove was appointed by Prime Minister Poul Schlueter as Minister of Fisheries (Fiskeriminister) in his first government and belonged to this until his replacement by Lars P. Gammelgaard on March 12, 1986.

He was then from 1987 to 1991 Chairman of the Market Committee (Folketingets Markedsudvalg) and then until 1994 Chairman of the Legal Committee (Folketingets Retsudvalg) . At the same time he acted as vice-chairman of the parliamentary group of the Conservative People's Party between 1989 and 1997 and was also chairman of the telephone company Jydsk Telefon A / S from 1989 to 1992 .

As 2nd Vice President of the Folketing, Grove was deputy to the then Folketing Presidents Henning Rasmussen , Erling Olsen and most recently Ivar Hansen . After 24 years of membership in parliament, he decided not to run again in the Folketing election on November 20, 2001 .

Grove, who had been a member of the council and the economic committee of Viborg Amt again since 1994, was appointed commander 1st class of the Dannebrog Order in 1997 for his services . In addition, he was awarded the Order of the Hawks of Iceland and the Order of the Lion of Finland .
