Henning Wicht

Henning Wicht (* 1920 in Berlin ; † February 11, 2010 in Bad Vilbel ) was a German radio journalist . He was the deputy director of the Hessischer Rundfunk (HR).

Career

From 1946, Wicht studied history and philosophy at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. In 1950 he received his doctorate there with a topic on the Frankfurt lawyer and publicist Ludwig Daniel Jassoy (1768-1831) under Leo Just . He initially worked as a freelance radio and newspaper reporter. In 1954 Wicht joined HR, in 1957 he became the personal assistant to the director and from 1960 onwards he became program coordinator for radio, television and commercial television. In 1961, Eberhard Beckmann made him the first program director for "Radio", a position he held until his retirement in 1987. Werner Hess took over television programming . Later Wicht was also deputy director.

Act

During his tenure, Wicht developed the new radio programs hr3 and hr4 and opened the regional studios in Kassel, Gießen, Fulda, Darmstadt and Wiesbaden that are spread across Hessen. Wicht took over the popular radio show Raten Sie mit - A quiz between London and Frankfurt and was a participant in the advice until the program was discontinued in 1968 after the 281st episode ("It worked out"). He represented the interests of Hessischer Rundfunk and ARD in various committees, including the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) .

Wicht last lived in Bad Vilbel. His wife was the radio editor Maike Rau-Wicht.
