Henry Dickinson Green (born May 3, 1857 in Reading , Pennsylvania , †  December 29, 1929 there ) was an American politician . Between 1899 and 1903 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Henry Green attended public schools in his home country. In 1872 he graduated from Reading High School . He then studied at Yale College until 1877 . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1879, he began to work in Reading in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1883 and 1886 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania ; from 1889 to 1896 he was a member of the State Senate . Green also took part in the Spanish-American War as a captain . In July 1900, he participated as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Kansas City .

After the death of MP Daniel Ermentrout , Green was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC when he was due for the by-election for the ninth seat of Pennsylvania , where he took up his new mandate on November 7, 1899. After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1903 . In 1902 he renounced another candidacy.

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Green practiced again as a lawyer. He was also active in the newspaper business: in Reading he published two newspapers between 1903 and 1913. He was also admitted to the bar in the state of Texas in 1920 . At that time he also got into the oil business. Henry Green died in Reading on December 29, 1929 and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery , Virginia .
