Herbert Alexander Stützer (born January 28, 1909 in Berlin ; † November 7, 1994 in Munich ) was a German art historian , writer and educator .

life and work

Herbert Alexander Stützer studied philosophy , history , art history and archeology at the Universities of Breslau and Bonn . He received his doctorate in 1931. phil. ( Doctor of Philosophy). In 1932 he published his first book. Numerous short stories , novels and non-fiction books followed .

His specialties were Etruscan and Roman art, as well as the Italian art of the Renaissance . He became known through his lectures, seminars, art trips and television shows. In 1986 he received the international Una Voce per L´Etruria prize in Tarquinia for his services to Etruscan culture . Stützer lived for the last few decades as a freelance art historian in Munich.
