Herbert Dannenmeier (born May 11, 1926 in Karlsruhe-Daxlanden ; † May 16, 2008 in Malsch (Karlsruhe district) ) was a German football player who played 149 games in the Oberliga Süd for VfB Mühlburg and Karlsruher SC from 1948 to 1956 and scored seven goals in the process.

career

Youth and amateur at VfB Mühlburg, 1935 to 1952

Herbert Dannenmeier grew up playing football in the youth department of his home club FV Daxlanden , where he also began club football at the age of nine. He developed into a technically outstanding development player who was also equipped with a great feel for the ball, header game and tackling skills. On his 15th birthday, he played his first game in the Daxlanden first team alongside his idol August Klingler . In the 1942/43 season he played six league games in the Gauliga Baden . After the Second World War , the "Dannes" called Dannenmeier played with Daxlanden from 1945/46 to 1947/48 in the Landesliga Nordbaden. The Karlsruhe district club VfB Mühlburg rose as champions of the year 1947 in the Oberliga Süd and signed the 22-year-old outside runner and half-striker for the 1948/49 round.

In the first year of the league, Dannenmeier first had to get used to the higher level of the league as well as to that in the VfB Mühlburg squad and therefore only made two appearances. He played his first round game in the Oberliga Süd on March 27, 1949 in the 2-0 away defeat at Bayern Munich. Injuries prevented the KSC left runner from playing more than eleven games in the 1955/56 season. Nevertheless, the team from the Wildpark Stadium won the championship in the Oberliga Süd for the first time - ahead of VfB Stuttgart and VfR Mannheim - and thus made it into the finals of the German football championship. Dannenmeier played four games in the final against Schalke 04, Hannover 96 and 1. FC Kaiserslautern and was also part of the KSC formation that met Borussia Dortmund in the final on June 24, 1956 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium in front of 75,000 spectators . End of the career

In the summer of 1956, the 30-year-old Dannenmeier moved to the 2nd league south to TSG Ulm 1846. In the first year, the promotion to the Oberliga Süd as third in the table was just missed behind the promoted 1860 Munich and SSV Reutlingen. In 1958, this goal was made up for with the runner-up. With goalkeeper Manfred Paul and the Kronenbitter brothers - Leo and Siegfried - the veteran achieved this success at the end of his playing career.

Later, Dannenmeier, who lives in the district of Karlsruhe in Malsch, worked as a trainer in the Baden amateur area. a. at FV Bad Rotenfels and FV Malsch.
