Herbert Jopt

Herbert Jopt (born September 28, 1918 in Langenbielau , Silesia , † October 19, 1991 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was chairman of the Berlin District Party Control Commission .

Life

Jopt learned the trade of dyer and did military service in World War II . After 1945 he worked in a paper mill in Flöha . In 1949 he joined the SED. From 1954 to 1981 he worked in the Berlin party apparatus of the SED, first as second secretary of the SED district leadership Berlin-Lichtenberg . From 1960 to 1964 he studied at the party college of the CPSU in Moscow and qualified as a social scientist. Then he was first secretary of the SED district leadership Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg until May 1971 . From May 1971 to February 1981 he worked as chairman of the district party control commission of the SED Berlin (successor to Paul Behring ). From June 1971 to 1976 he was also a candidate for the Central Party Control Commission . In 1981 Jopt retired, but from March 1981 to April 1987 - as successor to Willi Jahnke - he was still chairman of the Berlin District Committee of People's Solidarity .

His urn was on the Central Cemetery in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde in the graves plant for the victims and persecuted by the Nazi regime buried.
