Herbert Lippert (singer)

Herbert Lippert (born October 7, 1957 in Linz , Austria ) is an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Herbert Lippert was a soloist with the Vienna Boys' Choir , studied music education at the University of Vienna and graduated with honors. As a member of the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera , he made a name for himself primarily as a Mozart singer. He is one of the leading lyric tenors .

His sponsors included Sir Georg Solti and Wolfgang Sawallisch , under whose direction numerous recordings such as The Creation , Don Giovanni and The Mastersingers of Nuremberg were made. Lippert worked several times with the conductors Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Franz Welser-Möst , Riccardo Muti , and Fabio Luisi .

In 2009/2010 he had recordings and concerts with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and the Concentus Musicus , with Riccardo Muti, with Fabio Luisi and the Staatskapelle Dresden , with Franz Welser-Möst and the Vienna Philharmonic , as well as operas at the Vienna Volksoper (Eisenstein) and at the Graz Opera House (Stolzing, Alwa, Eisenstein)

In June 2014 he stepped in at the Vienna State Opera for Peter Seiffert, who was indisposed during the performance, in Act 2 as Siegmund in Die Walküre and thus sang a role as hero tenor . On November 15, 2014 Lippert sang at the Vienna State Opera in a new production of the Golitsyn Khovanshchina by Modest Mussorgsky .

He is married and has five children.
