Herbert Mohring

Herbert Mohring (born September 8, 1928 in Buffalo , New York , † June 4, 2012 in Three Links , Northfield , Minnesota ) was an American economist . He became famous for the Mohring effect named after him .

Herbert Mohring grew up in Buffalo. He graduated from Williams College in mathematics and economics . His Ph.D. he graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1959 . Between 1961 and 1994 he taught at the University of Minnesota and held teaching positions at Northwestern University , University of Toronto , Johns Hopkins University , National University of Singapore and the University of California-Irvine .
