Herbert Reiss (born February 21, 1957 ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career

Herbert Reiss' career began with the clubs FV Malsch (district of Karlsruhe) and FC Rastatt 04 , before moving to SC Freiburg in 1981 in Breisgau . This was also his first position as a professional. In his first second division season, the striker has already scored eight goals. The ex-amateur national player made his debut on August 16, 1980 at home against VfB Eppingen in the 2nd Bundesliga. The former playmaker Karl-Heinz Bente took over from coach Norbert Wagner in February 1981 and the team from the Dreisamstadion finished in 7th place, three places ahead of local rivals Freiburg FC. At the side of his teammates Günther Wienhold , Karl-Heinz Wöhrlin , Reinhard Binder and Robert Birner , the technically strong winger completed 24 league games. At the beginning of the 1981/82 season, the tempo dribbler completed the first nine games of the first half of the season for the SC and scored two goals. At the end of September 1981 he moved to Arminia Bielefeld in the first division. The fast and tricky winger made his Bundesliga debut on October 3, 1981 in a 2-0 home defeat against 1. FC Köln. Arminia was in 17th place in the table with 5:13 points. On November 7th, the newcomer from Freiburg was able to distinguish himself as a goalscorer in the 1-0 home win against VfB Stuttgart. Under coach Horst Franz , he formed the attack of the Bielefeld team mostly with Gerd-Volker Schock and Ewald Lienen and celebrated the league at the end of the round with 30:38 points in 12th place. He had contributed his share in 22 missions with three goals. In the second year he was only a supplementary player and went back to the SCF in the second division in 1983. There he only played 12 games in two years before he left the club during the 1984/85 season.

He continued his career at Freiburg FC , in 1986 he moved to SV Linx .

In 1979, under DFB trainer Erich Ribbeck, Reiss completed two international matches for the German amateur national team in the Olympic qualification against Finland (2-0) and Norway (0-2) as a player for FC Rastatt in the Baden-Württemberg amateur league .

Today Reiss works as a trainer and most recently trained with SV Mundingen. Previously he was u. a. Coach at the clubs FC Denzlingen , Bahlinger SC , FC Teningen (both Oberliga), FC Emmendingen (Association League ) and DJK Heuweiler. He was also a youth coach at the SC Freiburg football school.

As a player, Reiß is still active for the traditional SC Freiburg team.
