Herbert Rohwer (born April 14, 1922 in Kiel ; † March 6, 2006 ) was a German handball player .

Career

Herbert Rohwer grew up in the Hassee district of Kiel . He first played for the Reichsbahn TSV before moving to THW Kiel in 1936 . In 1940 he belonged to the team of the Kiel Hitler Youth , which was trained by Fritz Westheider and which became German vice youth champion in Breslau . In addition, Rohwer trained the young girls with whom he was third in the German championships in 1941 and again reached the final of the German championship in 1943/44, which was canceled because of the war .

In 1948 and 1950 , the trained machine fitter won the German field handball championship with the THW . In 1951, Rohwer was appointed to the German national team by national coach Fritz Fromm . In his only international match on April 1, 1951 in Saarbrücken against the Saarland national team , he scored two goals. In 1954 he ended his playing career.

Herbert Rohwer was married and had two daughters. For winning the German championship in 1950 he was honored with the silver laurel leaf .
