Herbert Samuel Walker

Herbert Samuel Walker (born February 29, 1924 in Saint Mary Parish, Jamaica ) is a former Jamaican diplomat .

Life

He attended Kingston College in Kingston (Jamaica) , studied at McGill University in Montreal and at the University of Manchester . He became a member of Gray's Inn and practiced the profession of barrister . He was employed by the colonial administration in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, was administrative assistant for the British trade mission in Georgetown (Guyana) and between 1950 and 1957 he achieved the rank of executive trade attaché. From 1957 to 1960 he was assistant to the permanent secretary of state in the Treasury Department of the colonial administration in Jamaica. From 1960 to 1972 he was a household clerk. From 1962 to 1965 he was a permanent secretary of state in the Treasury and from 1965 to 1972 in the Department of Commerce and Industry of Jamaica. From 1973 to 1978 he was permanent representative of the Jamaican government at the United Nations Office in Geneva . from November 1981 to August 1988 he was High Commissioner (Commonwealth) in London . From 1989 to 1992 he was the permanent representative of the Jamaican government at the UN headquarters in New York City .

Herbert Samuel Walker was married and had two children.
