Herbert Schmidt (doctor)

Herbert Schmidt (born April 6, 1892 in Leipzig , † February 16, 1975 in Hamburg ) was a German ENT doctor and university professor .

Life

The Leipzig-born Herbert Schmidt turned to the put- High School a study of the medicine to which he with the acquisition of the academic degree of Dr. med. completed. Herbert Schmidt received from 1925 to 1931 an ENT specialist training in Graz and as a student of Prof. Johannes Zange in Jena , until he was entrusted with the management of the municipal ENT clinic in Danzig. After founding the State Academy for Practical Medicine in Gdansk , he took over the ENT chair in 1934, which he held until the end of the Second World War .

Schmidt then moved to Hamburg , where he was appointed head of the ENT department at the Altona General Hospital , which he held until his retirement in 1958. Herbert Schmidt died in Hamburg in 1975 a few months before he was 83. Schmidt set a scientific focus on pathological anatomy in ENT medicine.
