Herbert Thieß
Herbert Thieß (born April 10, 1887 in Berlin ; † August 9, 1957 in Bobbau ) was a German deacon.
Life
After he had learned and worked in the umbrella- making trade , Thiess began a four-year apprenticeship as a deacon in the Johannesstift (Berlin) in 1906 . He was then a city missionary in Berlin for three years and youth secretary in Arnstadt for one year . Posted by the Johannesstift to the Borwinheim on October 1, 1914 , he and his wife were house parents. Meanwhile, father of four children, Thiess lost his position in 1923 because of economic difficulties at the orphanage . For a short time he worked in the Neustrelitz public employment record . Ernst Voss initiated his appointment as state trombonist for both Mecklenburgs on October 1, 1924. Voss valued Thieß as state trombonist, especially since he got along well with the Mecklenburgers. "Mr. Pastor, a better one than Mr. Thiess hadden is gornich finnen künnt för de Posaunensak." The problem was the income. The non-recognition of a controversial pension entitlement led to Thiess giving up the office on August 31, 1925 and going to Berlin as a parish deacon. After six years as an employee in the drinking welfare office, he was a sexton in Halle (Saale) from 1934 . After emergency training, he was in charge of the parish in Bobbau from 1939. There he died at the age of 70.
