As a qualified music educator, he found a long-term job as a music teacher in Kummer at Ludwigslust. At that time he also directed the wind choir of the regional church community , in which he trained young wind players.

On August 1, 1981, he was appointed state trombonist . He attended many choirs and organized numerous circle trombone festivals and regional trombone festivals every three to five years. With the support of his wife, he organized and directed four to six beginners' equipments every year. An annual bicycle armor with young wind players became a tradition. There were family armaments, some of which took place abroad after 1989. The Pritzier wind group, with which Stautmeister performed mainly in Mecklenburg villages, was a permanent selection choir. After more than 17 years as a state trombonist, he retired. In a solemn service in Güstrow Cathedral on December 28, 1997, he and his wife were bid farewell to many wind players.
